The Rains of the Big Boot
As if the Formula-X Series did not have enough Game of Thrones references, the fandom
delivered another one after Moodswing announced on Feeder that the Falling Boot Track was indeed returning when they dubbed the event “The Rains of the Boot.”
The Rains of the Boot is a reference to “The Rains of Castamere” which was not only a defining moment for House Lannister in that series with a play on the name Reign, but was also the name of a popular song in and out of the universe and the namesake of one of the shows most famous episodes depicting the Red Wedding.
In Formula-X however, it seems that “the rains” take on a whole new metaphor. The rains refers to the track’s nickname which was said to look like a falling boot hence the rain. The word is also a pun for title reign referring to John Kloof being the current F-X King. The expression is then taken home by the fact that his engine is called The Big Boot.
While the metaphor is a clever one, we all wonder if it isn’t too soon to start leaning on the new F-X King as a franchise player of sorts with Amandla’s Rebellion still in full swing. After all, it was due to Amandla’s Rebellion that the King did not have a proper coronation as the showrunners looked to quell the uprising before conducting a full blown celebration. But with the Rebellion mounting on, one wonders if the King will ever get a celebration.
Perhaps the best he can hope for is to have a PPV nicknamed after him.
