February 22 - Season 2

Return of the Biggest Fiesta of Autumn

While many did in fact anticipate it, it is now official: the upcoming pay-per-view will indeed see the return of the FESTIVAL OF THE FALL.

Last year, the Festival of the Fall was one of the most successful PPVs having sold out tickets in record time and had the distinction of having the biggest impact on the local community.

The reason for this distinction, of course, was because of the post-event eponymous festival taking place in the “English Quarter” which saw local businesses taking part in the festivities. With elements such as food, drinks, live performances and fun games for the kids and whole family, the Festival was definitely the highlight of Autumn.

Officially, the event is marketed as celebrating the first day of Autumn (called the Fall in the West), but with the announcement of the return to the “English Quarter”, the event is also becoming known for being the greatest opportunity for small businesses to get known and grow.

The FESTIVAL OF THE FALL is also known for being the last PPV on the Formula-X calendar before the beginning of the marketing campaign leading to the biggest event on that calendar, the Formula-X Grand Prix.

Once again, there will be a 2 week break following the event which is set to take place on the 21st of March. Last year, the event date had to be pulled forward to accommodate the break but this year, not only have the Commissioners of Fuel anticipated the Fall Break, but so has the fandom judging from the stray comments on the Formulary.

This puts the FESTIVAL OF THE FALL just a month away. Will the Festival be as big a success as it was last year? We’ll have to wait to find out.

February 15th - Season 2

The King of Hearts

Last night saw another exciting pay-per-view and it has been unanimously agreed that this was directly due to one of the greatest races in Formula-X between the still reigning F-X King Solo Magubane and the Claimant to the Crown, Thawn Oberhauser.

It was an adrenaline rush of a race that saw both racers scouting each other expertly with narrow passes and exquisite drafting techniques.

Critically acclaimed from the word go, the feature-race of Heart-Break City saw Captain Khumalo, on commentary, claiming that he hadn’t seen two racers who knew each other so well like the King and the Claimant.

And while their race and King Solo’s eventual victory was a big moment for the PPV, it turned out that it wasn’t over as Solo proved himself to truly be a franchise player when he introduced the Mayor of Ngelosi himself as a guest at the V-Day Dance on stage who proceeded to congratulate Formula-X and express how impressed he was with what was showcased.

The Mayor’s appearance was a complete shock to not just the fans and the F-X Racers, but also to the Club Committee including the showrunners. His presence was also covered by a news crew that captured the special moment ensuring that the rest of South Africa would get to see the it.

If Amandla’s Rebellion gave the Formula-X Series a taste of the provisional atmosphere, then this moment definitely gave the Series a taste of the National atmosphere. But it’s important not to count the chickens before they hatch.

After all, the Granddaddy of them All is yet to come. But is the enormous success of Heart-Break City is anything to go by, the Main Event of Motorsport will be off the chain.

February 8th - Season 2

 A Night to Remember

With the announcement of the return of a Valentine’s Day themed pay-per-view, many fans have taken to the Formulary to express their dread, comparing the event to the Titanic: one of man’s grandest achievements… heading straight for an iceberg.

While the fans worry about what’s to become of this newly named but all the same HEART-BREAK CITY, the Commissioners of Fuel have promised that they have learnt from their mistakes.

For one, they are placing far less emphasis on romance and focusing on delivering something fun for the F-X racers. Moodswing has gone on record saying that they will only be making attendance mandatory rather than an opening dance.

While many still think this upcoming PPV to be a titanic gamble, there have been some that are looking forward to the event simply because it’s the first one that will have nothing to do with the arc known as Amandla’s Rebellion.

It’s telling that there’s been a renewed focus on the PPV circuit and the fact that people are actually talking about the event itself rather than about who should or shouldn’t be getting a title shot.

The track in question will once again be the heart-shaped track (a literal heart organ that is).

With only 1 week to promote HEART-BREAK CITY, this Monday Night Fuel saw the feature-race press conference and the contract signing take place at the same time in the F-X Conference Centre (see below).

Perhaps it’s a good sign that HEART-BREAK CITY will fall exactly on Valentine’s Day and maybe cupid’s arrow will help the PPV find the love of the people.

February 1st - Season 2

The Rebellion is Over

At long last, the arc, chapter and saga known as Amandla’s Rebellion came to a close at The Scramble pay-per-view. The point that marked the end was none other than the crowning of Solo Magubane as the new Formula-X King.

The moment had to be seen to be believed because it saw things that we had never seen in the Series before. The first monumental difference to the norm was when Deputy Mayor Xulu was seen clapping along with other members of the audience, smiling in stark comparison to other PPVs that saw the DM grumpy as hell.

It only got better as Solo was personally congratulated by the DM when Solo shook hands with him right on the middle-stage.

This was seen as an epic moment and a pivotal moment as not only did it contrast with the handshake the DM shared with Moodswing exactly a year ago but it was also seen as a true sign of peace between the CMA and F-X.

While the PPV was seen as the moment Amandla’s Rebellion came to an end, it was officially confirmed when earlier today, there were absolutely no protesters in sight for the first time this season.

Due to his personal connection to the uprising, F-XQ got together with Mandla Xulu to ask him whether it was over and Mandla confirmed it truly was. He believes the reason it ended was because the people finally realized that the Commissioners of Fuel weren’t fixing anything if a black man managed to capture the Crown.

While the motivation for the end of this arc feels a bit backhanded, we’re sure we speak for the fans in expressing our relief regardless and our congratulations to the new Formula-X King who not only fulfilled a year long dream, but united a province.
