SHADOW OF THE SHOW-DOWN

It seems the commentators had their work cut out for them when they had to call the action in the epic opening race between the teams of Solo, Stevie and Penny facing off with Blackcat, Dime and Mandla.

The  race had the Duchess of Drag and her nemesis start things off followed by Stevie and the self-proclaimed master of witchcraft followed by the Auto 1 Returnee.

While most of the race was solid with block and draft racing, every third lap seemed to rise with anticipation as Solo and Mandla proved to be the highlight of the race.

Things did take a turn when Dime tapped Penny’s vehicle causing her to lose control. While Penny managed to maintain control and avoid damage, she did lose a lot of ground allowing Blackcat to begin the 15th round almost a lap ahead of  Stevie. However Stevie’s experience allowed her to catch up some ground but not enough leaving it down to the last lap.

With Mandla and Solo facing off in the final lap, every fan was on their feet as Solo caught up with the F-X Crown Claimant. They were neck and neck around the back bend but Solo navigated the final bend (known as the sweet-spot bend) for the victory.
