THE RACING DIARIES

12 Rounds Derby

Before the die hard Formula-X fans could get used to being on Azanian land again, Glen took to Formula-Feed to announce a new race type for the Series: The Twelve Round Derby.

Glen explained that, going in line with Moodswing’s desire for more grueling races to really test the F-X racers, he has come up with something just down his alley: a race where every lap counts.

As explained by the Club Vice President, the high concept of the race is that the racer that takes the most laps wins the race. Glen explained that the race was named “12 rounds” because it has exactly 12 laps to be contested over.

In response to Formula-feedback, Glen was quick to point out the reason for there being an even number of laps is because if there does happen to be a tie, it will force the race into sudden death — which was a purposeful move on his part as he wants the race to live up to the entertainment aspect as well as the sports aspect.

Commentator Captain Khumalo has already shown approval for the race as he liked the idea of every lap being important and not just the final one.

It has not gone unnoticed that this is the second race type to be called a derby and fans have wondered if this race is also raced for stakes.
