TOUCHING BASE

Solo Magubane

When Touch Mkhize welcomed Solo Magubane to join him, the audience leapt to their feet to welcome home the prodigal son.

For the first time on his talk show, Touch seemed to be out of step with his words as the aspiring feature-racer was star-struck by the Auto1 Racer.

Touch managed to stutter a question about racing in Auto 1. “Oh there’s nothing like it. However that’s mostly because it’s the one race in the world that puts Auto 1 on the same page as Formula Racing.”

While Solo was quick to say that F-X had its own story to tell in that book, he said he was still happy to be back and couldn’t imagine calling any other series home.

Touch managed to recover towards the end of the show when he asked Solo if he felt he was being put in the middle of the spat between Glen and Moodswing by having his feature-race with Stevie changed to a “Winner Runs the Gauntlet” race. Solo said he wasn’t aware it was a spat and that he was just happy to compete and looked forward to any challenge.
