There is an old adage that says the sequel is never better than the original. There are true exceptions (Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The Dark Knight) but so few that they only prove the rule. Well Arbour Game's feature-race may have been the greatest exception of them all.
While the first race was considered a classic, definitely worthy of the feature-race slot of The First Formula-X Grand Prix with John Kloof pulling off a victory due to Mandla Xulu oversteering the last turn, their second encounter had Mandla make no such mistake.
Instead, in the 20th and final lap, just as Mandla approached the homestretch with the finish line in view, John Kloof hit his power-boost button at just the right moment allowing The Big Boot to accelerate past The Shosholoza to secure the win with a photo finish.
While this kind of strategy is not unheard of, it is rare to have a lagging racer hit the button at exactly the right time to pass his opponent just before the finish line. Other races have seen the button hit too soon or too late. As such, people look to this successful move as reason to call John Kloof deserving of the crown.
Unfortunately, not everyone believes this as Mandla’s father would take his political platform to voice his opinion on this move.
